Hazard classification of organic peroxides
Organic peroxides are classified into the following seven types according to their hazard.
1 (Type A
Refers to organic peroxides that are prone to detonation or rapid deflagration, or exhibit violent effects when heated in a closed state. Because this type of organic peroxide is sensitive and explosive, it is forbidden to be transported and stored as dangerous goods in Category 5, Item 2, and should be treated as explosives.
2 (Type B
It refers to organic peroxides that are only explosive, and the preparations will not detonate during packaging and transportation, nor will they detonate rapidly, but are prone to thermal explosions inside the package. This type of organic peroxide shall be transported in a net weight of not more than 25 kg per package and shall display the secondary explosives symbol on the package.
3 (Type C
Refers to organic peroxides that do not detonate, deflagrate quickly, and are not easily heated and exploded during packaging and transportation, but are still potentially explosive. When this type of organic peroxide is transported, the net weight of each package shall not exceed 50 kg, and the sub-mark of explosives can be exempted.
4(D type
Refers to partial detonation, but no rapid deflagration, and no violent effect; or no detonation, but slow detonation and no violent effect; or no detonation or deflagration, but moderate effect of organic peroxides. The net weight of each package of Type D organic peroxides shall not exceed 50 kg.
5(E type
Refers to organic peroxides that do not detonate or deflagrate and show only weak effects when heated under closed conditions. The net weight of each package of E-type organic peroxides shall not exceed 400 kg and the volume shall not exceed 450 kg
6 (F type
It refers to an organic peroxide that does not cause a cavitational explosion or deflagration when a heating test is carried out under closed conditions, but only shows weak or no effect, and shows weak or no explosive force. Type F organic peroxides can be transported in medium bulk containers, portable tanks or tank trucks.
7(G type
It means that when the heating test is carried out under closed conditions, it neither causes explosion in cavitation state nor deflagration, and does not exhibit acoustic effects and does not have any explosive force, but its configuration is a thermally stable package (50 kg, self-propelled Organic peroxides with accelerated decomposition temperature > 60°).
